DAVID KENTELL
Senior QS
Hi, my name is David and I’m originally from the UK, however I’ve been living and working in NZ for
over 20 years. I relocated for a better lifestyle and have not regretted it.
I live in Christchurch with my partner and daughter and I enjoy spending as much time as possible
with them.
I enjoy mountain biking, snowboarding, running and windsurfing so Christchurch is the perfect place
to live with the estuary, beaches, Port Hills and mountains.
After graduating from University with a BEng(Hons) in Civil Engineering I worked in the UK before
moving to NZ. Over the last twenty years I have worked for large and small construction companies
as an Estimator and Quantity Surveyor, pricing anything from multi-million dollar commercial
projects to small residential builds.
I have been with the RedQS team since 2019.
DONG ZHANG
Senior QS
I am married with no children at this stage. I am living in Christchurch now.
Outside of work, I like walking, playing basketball, swimming and watching movie, and I also like doing volunteer work over the weekend, joining the activities organised by FGS Buddhist Temples, the Christchurch City Council and Keep New Zealand Beautiful.
In 2015 I came to RedQS from MWH Recovery Ltd. I love the building and construction finance industry and its colourful characters. I believe all of the projects I have worked on have been challenging, but I enjoy the challenges. Quantity surveying is all about people, an open communication with all the members of the project is important to deliver the project. That is why I like to be a QS.

PAUL WATSON
Sales & Operations Manager
Hi, I’m Paul and I’m the Sales & Operations Manager here at Red QS. I look after the day to day operation of the company and make sure that the QS team are meeting deadlines and that our clients are happy !
I love the construction sector as no two days are the same and there are always interesting characters to talk to. The industry has many challenges but is also very rewarding and I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.
Outside of work I have my hands full with three beautiful girls and a wonderful wife which certainly keeps me on my toes. I love anything to do with sports and try to keep as active as possible while enjoying everything that the wonderful city of Christchurch has to offer.
